This year, the event will take place on September 27-30 with two keynotes, thirty breakout sessions, 90+ hiring employers, a luncheon celebration, and more! On Tuesday, September 28 and Wednesday, September 29 all College of Business classes will be canceled to allow students to participate in the two-day business-centered conference.
Derek Fields learned many lessons during his time on Northern Kentucky University’s basketball court. The 1990 graduate of NKU’s radio, television, and film program is still motivating his team and teaching them the strategies of success. But these days it’s far beyond the three-point line. Today, Fields serves as the Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Rehrig Pacific Company. Throughout his 20 years of experience, he has focused on directing sales, strategic brand development, driving revenue and increasing market share for leading global consumer and entertainment brands such as Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Disney Consumer Products, Sara Lee Corporation, Inc and Kraft Foods, Inc. But his experience on the court and status as a member of NKU’s Basketball Hall of Fame has never left him. Fields teaches his team to play fast, play fair, and always work for something better—inside and outside the office. He has his coaching hat on no matter where he goes.
Andrá R. Ward is the President, Chief Cultural & Transformation Officer and founding principal of The KhafreWard Corporation which is focused on human resource management and talent development. Ward is a highly regarded panelist, speaker, and master facilitator and executive coach. His global impact and travels span across the United States and twenty-two other countries. Ward is an alumnus of Northern Kentucky University, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Radio, Television & Film. Governor Beshear appointed Ward to the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents on July 26, 2013, where he currently serves as the chairman. Ward actively mentors NKU students and several young professionals in business and industry. He is passionate about his mentoring relationships and considers working with students to be the highlight of his NKU service.
Almost every day in Northern Kentucky there are exciting announcements of positive business growth from the Amazon hub at CVG, to new companies locating in the region and unprecedented enhancement of current facilities. There is a lot of work and partnership that goes into making these announcements happen. A special panel of Economic Development partners (Julie Kirkpatrick, Lisa Sims, Justin Otto and Christine Russell) will discuss how these deals come together and in particular focus on the renaissance of the Newport Levee as a catalyst for even more development. We will learn a little bit about the macro level of Economic Development along with the micro and how they all align for success.
