Learn new methods for implementing and supporting effective science instruction in the classroom - virtually! In this series, K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators form a cohort of peers that learn through online, interactive activities. Led by experienced master educators, these guided lessons promote self-reflection and forward-thinking in science instruction. By the end of the program, you'll have the tools needed to make your science classroom(s) the best they can be.
Opportunity: Professional development in K-12 science instruction best practices in a virtual format
For: K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and building / district administrators
Takeaways: Industry-standard teaching methods, 25 contact hours of professional learning, and access to the modules for one school year
Length: Approximately one month (beginning in June*)

In this Virtual Learning Series, participants will become familiar with each of the three dimensions of effective science instruction and how they can begin to apply them in their own classrooms. Those dimensions are:
Program Background:
Published in 2012, A Framework for K-12 Science Education outlined broad expectations for students in science and engineering for grades K-12. The Framework identified these three dimensions as the core ideas and practices around which high-quality science and engineering curriculum, units, and lessons should be built.
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) were written based on the vision of what it means to be proficient in science found in A Framework for K-12 Science Education. As stated in the NGSS Introduction, "The integration of these three dimensions provides students with a context for the content of science, how science knowledge is acquired and understood, and how individual sciences are connected through concepts that have universal meaning across the disciplines."
“The course enabled me to think of science differently, therefore I now approach teaching differently.”
~Mt. Healthy City Schools, Teacher
“I really enjoyed the course! We never dug so deep in my science methods course in college, so it has been really nice to get some elaboration, and resources that I can actually use daily.”
~Indian Hill School District, Instructional Coach
“I will be sharing best practices with my staff.”
~Galion City Schools, Building Administrator
