NKU Women's Center

Meet the Staff

This page is designed for you to get to know the permanent staff of the Northern Kentucky University Women's Center.

Katherine Meyer coordinates NKU's Women's Center, assisted since 1988 by Judy Birkenhauer and dozens of student employees, interns and volunteers. Katherine has her Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy (1986) from the University of Louisville and occasionally hosts workshops for students to draw out, speak out and write out their visions. Katherine welcomes students to form new support groups as they need them. Students are always welcome to stop by for tea! Occasionally there may be cookies!

Judy Birkenhauer has been secretary of the Women's Center since 1988. Judy enjoys working with and getting to know the student employees, student volunteers and visitors at the Women's Center.
Judy's personal interests are her family, five beautiful grandchildren, and friends off and on campus.

Sallie Parker Lotz coordinates the NKU K-TAP Program. K-TAP is the acronym for Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program. This is the current name of welfare for needy children and their parents. Sallie has her Master’s Degree in Social Work (1974) from the University of Wisconsin. She coordinates jobs on campus for K-TAP students, runs a weekly support group and works toward breaking down barriers to success for the K-TAP student. She also helps potential K-TAP students through the admissions process. Sallie says this job is a great opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of students.
