     WNTV News has their very own chef!  Chef Bud has searched all over for those perfect recipes that are easy to make, taste great, and don't burn a whole in your check book.  You can check out his cooking on the WNTV News every week.  Most recipes are tailored so they can be done both at home or in a dorm.

     Below you can find the recipes that Chef Bud has featured on the WNTV News.  New recipes will be added as they are spot lighted with each news cast.

Desert/Snack

Breakfast

Cake in a Cup

Ingredients
1  box cake mix
1  4oz instant pudding mix

Mix
1/2 cup cake mix (ingredients above)
1 egg white
1 Tbs. oil
1 Tbs. water

     Mix thoroughly.  Microwave on full power 1 1/2 minutes.  When cake is done, put icing, glaze, or powder sugar on top.  Eat warm.

Lazy Students Breakfast

Ingredients
1 slice bread---cubed
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup ham chopped (optional)
2 Tbs. cheddar cheese---shredded
pinch of salt

     Combine all ingredients in a 6 inch serving bowl.  Mix well.  Cover tightly with plastic wrap with vent wholes.  Microwave for 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 minutes.  Let stand covered for 45 seconds.

 

Drink Candy

Jell-O Jubilee Juice

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup water
flavored powdered Jell-O
vanilla
flavored soft drink

     Put 1 1/2 c of water in glass measuring cup and heat in microwave until it boils.  Stir in 1 package (3oz) of orange Jell-O.  Put a scoop of ice cream in 4 mugs.  Divide the Jell-O mix evenly among the mugs.  Pour about 1/4c of orange soda over each mug.

** Cherry Jell-O mixed with cherry soda or Lime Jell-O and Sprite can also be used.

Peanut Brittle

Ingredients  
1 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
pinch of salt (optional)
1 Tbs. butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking soda

     Grease a baking sheet, set aside.  Combine peanuts, sugar, corn syrup, and salt in glass bowl.  Cook in microwave for 2 minutes.  Stir.  Cook for another 2 minutes.  Stir in butter and vanilla.  Cook for minute.  Quickly stir in baking soda until foamy.  Pour immediately onto  greased baking sheet.  Let cool.  Break into pieces. 

Snack Peanut Butter Sweeties

Ingredients
package single square saltines 1 jar peanut butter
about 2 1/2 cup white chocolate

     Spread peanut butter between two saltines making a sandwich.  Melt chocolate in microwave.  Dip saltine sandwich in chocolate.  Cool on wax paper.

Potato Chips

Ingredients
1 Tbs. vegetable oil
1 potato---slice thin (peel optional)
1/2 tsp. salt

     Pour vegetable oil into plastic bag and add potato slices.  Close bag and shake.  Coat a large dinner plate with oil/ cooking spray.  Arrange potato slices in a single layer on dish.  Cook in microwave for 3 or 5 minutes, or until lightly brown.  Remove browned chips from plate and season.  Repeat process w/ remaining slices.
