WGS Faculty Affiliate Status

Guidelines

Women's & Gender Studies Faculty Affiliates include faculty under contract with Northern Kentucky University

(1)  who have full-time appointments in departments other than WGS, and

(2)  who have taught at least one course listed as a WGS course over the past four years, and

(3)  whose teaching, research, and/or service is substantially and appropriately connected to Women's & Gender Studies, as determined by the Women's & Gender Studies Curriculum and Steering Committees.

For every WGS-designate course they teach, Women's & Gender Studies faculty will ensure that the course syllabus for the relevant semester is on file in the Women's & Gender Studies office.  Syllabi must be sent in by the end of the second week of classes each semester.

Every other year (even years), all Women's & Gender Studies faculty will see that a copy of their current CV is on file in the program office.

Requesting Faculty Affiliate Status

To become a member of the Women's & Gender Studies faculty, faculty with full-time appointments in departments other than WGS should send the following materials by email to the Curriculum Advisory Committee c/o the program (wgs@nku.edu):

  • a brief statement of how your teaching, research, and/or service is substantially and appropriately connected to Women's & Gender Studies,
  • a syllabus for the course you would like the committee to consider as an approved elective or cross-listed course, or a sample syllabus or detailed outline for a course you wish to teach in the future, including texts and assignments; and
  • a current CV (as a file attachment formatted as .pdf or .doc)
  • a separate email message or letter from your department chair supporting your application for faculty affiliate status and acknowledging a willingness to cross-list some of your courses with a WGS course with at least 5 seats

These materials may be sent by campus mail to FH 328 or as email attachments to wgs@nku.edu
