The Office of Student Retention & Assessment (SRA) was created by the Division of Student Affairs to: work closely with students who are not making academic progress; assist faculty in improving the motivation and performance of underachieving students; prepare reports from generated data that will provide a framework to assist faculty and staff with the evaluation and assessment of services at NKU.

Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and Licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Division of Regulated Child Care, the Early Childhood Center provides preschool and childcare services for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community as well as educational programming for students in practicums and internships.  The Center offers year round programming for children ages two to five years and offers in fall, spring, and summer semesters and a summer school-age program for children ages 6-12.

The Office of International Student Affairs
serves all non-immigrant students attending the University.  In addition to recruiting and providing information on admission procedures for foreign applicants, the Office staff assists international students with their general welfare and social adjustments, and guides them in their relations within and outside the University community so that they can successfully achieve their academic goals.

The Career Development Center
offers an integrated program of career development services, including career planning, Cooperative Education, career employment, and résumé assistance.  Most services are available free of charge to NKU students and NKU alumni.  Assessment testing is offered for a $10.00 fee for currently enrolled NKU students, and $17.00 for NKU alumni.  This department serves as the university liaison to many local corporations and organizations, including the on-site Fidelity Investments Customer Call Center.

Educational Talent Search
, a Federally funded TRIO program, provides early intervention and post-secondary information to 1,000 low income, first generation students in Northern Kentucky University and Greater Cincinnati.  The program serves participants in grades 6 -12, and school dropouts.  Activities include mentoring, field trips, assistance filling out forms, providing career, study skills, college selection, and financial aid information.

In Kentucky, there is a program that can help families with dependent children.  It is the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP).  K-TAP provides temporary  cash assistance to families with a dependent child who lacks the support of one or both parents.  K-TAP also helps the family find a job or get training that leads to a job.  The mission of the K-TAP program is to promote the success of students receiving K-TAP funds and attending Northern Kentucky University.

Student Support Services
, a federal TRIO program, funded through the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to increase the academic performance, retention rates, and graduation rates of student participants.  Annually, it serves over 230 students who demonstrate a need for academic support and meet program eligibility requirements (based on income level, first generation college status, or disability).  SSS offers academic advising, instructional classes, career/major counseling, Supplemental Instruction, financial aid counseling and assistance, mid-term progress reports, and social/cultural activities.  Applications are available by contacting the office or visiting their website.

Upward Bound,
a federally funded TRIO program, works with high school students who met federal income guidelines and are potential first-generation college students.  A college preparation curriculum, leadership development program with summer residential component, and college credits are provided for students in several Northern Kentucky high schools.
