in each course before applying for an internship.

However, the specific prerequisites required of individual students may
vary depending on the nature of the internships for which they are applying.
For example, a student will not be allowed to do a public relations internship
without h .aving first taken at least one public relations course. Nor could
he/she expect to do a publications internship without having taken copy-editing
and/or desktop publishing.
Ultimately, each internship and its prerequisites must be approved on a case by case basis by the faculty intern coordinator who takes into account the student's completed coursework, previous communication experience, and intended career goals as well as the specific duties required for the particular internship.
