NKU's program in sound production and design encompasses a variety of scientific and artistic disciplines. NKU productions incorporate both live and recorded sound to reinforce the emotional content, as well as to heighten the dramatic effect. At NKU students train and work with sophisticated equipment using both analog and digital techniques in and out of the classroom. Microphones are extensively used to reinforce the voices of the performers and instruments that participate in live theatre. NKU students work with wired and wireless microphone systems in actual performances, allowing them to refine live mixing and problem solving skills to better prepare them for careers in sound design and production for the theatre.
