Scenic designers create interesting and unique imaginative environments in which productions are presented. At NKU the study of scenic design begins by learning fundamentals of design, model making, and rendering. Students also examine historical and contemporary modes of stage design. Courses teach artistic and building techniques involved in creating scenery, props and effects for the stage. Students are also encouraged to explore the artistic world around them, and to explore new and innovative approaches to scenic design.
