Lighting Design and production is a diverse field that encompasses both scientific and artistic principles and theories, including electricity, optics, color theory, dimming control systems, and creative processes. Production courses focus on mechanical and system components while design courses focus on the practices and theories used in creating lighting designs for the theatre. Students work side by side with faculty in the installation of lighting designs for NKU productions. NKU students not only work with traditional static fixtures, but they are also provided with opportunities to work with a wide range of automated Fixtures.
