Students in the costume technology and design program study basic principles of costume design and production, in addition to costume crafts, hair, and makeup. These principles of costume building are explored further through practical application by preparing costumes for University productions. These costumes range from period to contemporary clothing and incorporate tailoring, millinery, pattern drafting, draping, and costume shop management skills. Design students further explore principles of design that include textiles, figure drawing, and characterization. Costume design students' experiences culminate in the realization of designs created for the NKU production program.
