MICHIGAN TESTING

Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency was designed to project whether a student whose native language is not English is able to pursue academic study in an English speaking university, and how much study he might be able to undertake at his/her present level of proficiency in English.

The test is a 100 item objectively scored test of English grammatical usage, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.  The test is timed (75 minutes).  Those scoring 80 or above on the Michigan Test are given a topic for a written essay.  The written exam is graded by the Literature and language Department and students are then placed into the appropriate English course(s).  The testing format and scoring is subject to change.

The Michigan Test is administered by the International Students Office.
