 Susan Mospens

Dr. Susan Mospens is the founding Director of the Student Achievement Center.  Formed in 2008, the Center is home to Student Support Services (SSS), KTAP, and Early Alert.  Prior to this, she served as the Director of Student Support Services for 14 years.

A first-generation college student herself, Dr. Mospens began her college education at the University of Dayton (OH) majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice. After holding several positions working with youth status-offenders, she returned to school and earned a Master of Science in Counseling from Wright State University (OH).

As a counselor, she worked extensively with adolescents, couples, and families in both the community, the university, and in private practice. She assumed the position as Director of SSS following two years as a counselor with NKU's Upward Bound and four years in Health & Counseling at NKU. While in that position she pursued her doctorate in Education Administration/Higher Education Leadership. She earned her Ph.D. from Indiana State University (IN) in 2008. Her dissertation research topic was: The effect of social class on first year college student engagement and satisfaction.

Dr. Mospens believes in the transformative power of education and is deeply committed to the capacity of each individual to learn, grow, and achieve.  When not on campus helping others, she enjoys her family, hiking, reading, music, and the great outdoors.
