Grant Aid
Student Support Services Grant Aid is a financial award available to eligible SSS participants through a generous grant from the U.S. Department of Education and Northern Kentucky University.
SSS Grant Aid is intended to meet the following goals:
- Improve student retention by supplementing financial assistance for low income students with unmet financial needs.
- Improve academic success by reducing the number of hours students need to work.
- Provide incentives for students to make timely progress in their degree program and to successfully complete their developmental coursework.
- Demonstrate support for students who are actively using SSS resources to facilitate their academic success.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Active in the SSS program each semester as evidenced by at least 4 documented contacts with your Support Specialist.
AND
- Participation in at least 4 SSS Approved Workshops .
- Pell grant recipient for the current semester/year.
- Earned 12 or more credit hours while active in the SSS program.
- Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Completed or be making progress in developmental coursework.
- Enrolled part-time/full-time for the current semester/year.
- Priority is given to freshman and sophomore SSS scholars
Application Deadlines:
- Application deadline is March 15
- Apply using the NKU scholarship application for continuing students
