A Word From Our Students

SSS is my support system in college:

• I’m a person, not a number.
• I feel more confident and connected.
• I’m connected to a network of friends and staff.
• It’s my home away from home…a place where I belong.
• My Support Specialist is my mentor and offers me personal and moral support.

SSS helps me on my college path:

• My Support Specialist is knowledgeable and well-trained.
• They connect me with resources… regardless of what I need.
• I’m informed about opportunities to get involved on campus.
• I’ve learned to set goals and take pride in my accomplishments.
• I feel more confident that I’m completing my graduation requirements.

SSS offers special “perks”:

• SSS Grant Aid really helped me out.
• Super priority registration means I get the schedule I want.
• The special SSS sections of UNV 101 and MAHD 095 are a plus.
• Mid-term grades give me the feedback I need to get the grades I want.
• I enjoy opportunities to get involved and to connect outside of the classroom.

SSS prepares me through professional development:

• I’ve developed a network of students with different interests and majors.
• There are opportunities to grow as a leader such as:
      o Being an SSS Ambassador
      o Student Retention Assistant
      o UNV 101 Teaching Assistant
      o MAHD Supplemental Instructor Leader

SSS offers opportunities to celebrate each step of the journey:

• I know I can come back after graduation and the staff will still care.
• I love the Yeah Board where even small accomplishments are celebrated.
• Students are recognized for all kinds of achievements, not only for their grades.
