Letter from the Director
Dear SSS Scholars;
The staff of Student Support Services would like to welcome you to YOUR support community.
College is an incredible journey that will require work, but you don’t have to travel that journey alone. The staff and students of SSS are your Community of Support. We are here to teach, guide, and support you on this journey.
College is incredible journey with both opportunities and challenges. Few people around the world have the opportunity you have been given. To make the most of this opportunity will require persistence, passion and hard work. Thomas Edison once said Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Earning a college degree is going to require work.
- It will mean going to classes you don’t find interesting.
- It will mean getting yourself to class when you’d rather be in bed or somewhere else.
- It will mean struggling to understand ideas that are new to you.
- It will mean working harder and longer on assignments than you’ve ever had to before.
Earning a college degree is going to require work…but there will be opportunities that grow from the work.
- You will be fascinated by courses and subjects that you never even knew existed.
- You will develop confidence in your ability to manage yourself and your time.
- You will find new passions and new interests.
- You will find you are capable of so much more than you have ever asked of yourself before.
The Student Handbook is your "tell-all" tool in guiding you along the journey to graduation. It offers you resources for ensuring that you develop the skills, stamina, and confidence to run this marathon called college. Take some time to review the Student Handbook and familiarize yourself with what YOUR SSS Community of Support has to offer.
Please take advantage of the many programs and services SSS has to offer, so we can all celebrate with you when you reach graduation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Susan M. Mospens, Director
