Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society (AKD)

Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society was founded in 1920 by Professor Emory Bogardus. Alpha Kappa Delta derives its name from the first letters of the three Greek words that together signify the Society’s goal: To study humankind for the purpose of service. The purpose of AKD is to promote human welfare through the association of a fellowship group interested in developing scientific knowledge that may be applied to the solution of social problems.
Membership Requirements:
Student will have at least junior standing
Student has completed four sociology courses
Student has an overall GPA 3.0 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in sociology
Students inducted into AKD will receive an honor cord to wear at graduation, a framed certificate, life-time membership in AKD, and a year’s subscription to Sociological Inquiry.
