Balloons, Cosmic Rays, Antiprotons, and Antarctica

(Believe it or not, all of the subjects in the title are connected.)  Cosmic rays are fully ionized atoms accelerated up to essentially light speed by galactic mishaps such as supernovae and pulsars.  They constantly pelt the Earthís atmosphere, and are the cause of the largest part of the background radiation at Earthís surface.  I'll give an overview of cosmic rays and outstanding scientific questions about them, then discuss several current experiments designed to answer some of these questions, and some recent results on the cosmic ray antiproton to proton abundance ratio, which is a measure of the propagation history of cosmic rays from source to detection.
