The Faculty Benefits Committee strongly encourages faculty to submit
applications for Sabbaticals, Summer Fellowships and Project Grants
electronically. There is no need to submit a hard copy of the application; the
entire application process, including letters of evaluation and final reports,
is to be done via e-mail.
Application forms for each award can be downloaded at http://www.nku.edu/~senate/benefitscommittee.html. Completed applications should be sent as an e-mail attachment (a Word document, .rtf file or .pdf file (most preferred form) to Grace M. Hiles (hilesg1@nku.edu) in the Faculty Senate Office. An electronic copy of the application must also be sent to the department chair (or appropriate administrative supervisor) and the college dean. The application deadline is the first Tuesday in October.
Faculty applying for more than one award must submit a separate application for each award. Name the application file(s) with the applicant's last name and the target award program (e.g., Smith Sabbatical.rtf). The Subject box of the e-mail message should also contain the applicant's last name followed by the target program.
Final reports should also be sent as e-mail attachments to the
following recipients: Provost Office, C/O Mary Ryan (ryanm@nku.edu) ;
the college dean; the department chair; and the Faculty Senate Office, C/O Grace
M. Hiles (hilesg1@nku.edu). The final
report deadline for Fellowships is September 1; for Sabbaticals the deadline is
within two months of completion of the leave; and for Project Grants, the
deadline is upon completion of the grant. When submitting a final report, name
the file with the applicant's last name, the award program, and the identifier
term "Report" (e.g., Smith Sabbatical Report.rtf)
Department chairs and deans are to forward letters of evaluation electronically to Grace M. Hiles by the second Tuesday in October with carbon copies sent to the appropriate dean (or chair) and to the applicant. Name the file using the applicant's last name, the award program the applicant is applying to, and the identifier term "Evaluation-Chair (or Dean)" (e.g., Smith Sabbatical Evaluation-Chair.rtf).
Questions should be directed to the Chairperson of the Benefits Committee, or Grace M. Hiles.
