The "Reading the River" project received an Environmental Quality Commission (EQC) Earth Day 2002 Award for its work in promoting awareness and understanding of the Licking River Watershed. The EQC is a seven-member citizen board that advises Governor Paul Patton on environmental matters. The award is presented by the Board during a ceremony at Berry Hill Mansion in Frankfort on Earth Day, April 22, 2002.
