Essay Questions for Final

The following two questions will appear on the Final Exam as Essay Questions, worth 26 points each. The remaining questions on the test will include 8 quotations at 6 points each (see syllabus for a description of the point breakdown for identifying quotations). You will be permitted to bring one page of notes for use on the Essay Questions, but not the Quotations. Be certain that each of your essays has a central point to make, several assertions you make in support of that point, and specific examples to support your ideas.

  2. Write an essay in which you explore the attitudes toward the upper classes or professional/tradespeople (CHOOSE ONLY ONE) in Frances Burney's Evelina and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.  Be sure to focus on both the similarities and differences between the two works.
