This page is a resource for researchers who
wish to locate specific reels of microfilm in The Eighteenth
Century
microform collection, which is intended to make available "every notable
item printed in any language in Great Britain and its colonies, and
printed
in English anywhere in the world, 1701-1800." The page is a work in
progress,
and I will be adding information about the holdings of each library as
time permits.

Hints for
searching:

Few universities have the whole
run of microfilm. It is a good idea to identify libraries that have your
reel before requesting the microfilm through ILL.
-
The microfilm reels are
catalogued
at different universities in many different ways, and the reel numbers
in a university's catalog may not match the reel number listed in the
ESTC.
George Boulukos suggests that you include the OCLC or ISSN number to
ensure
you and all intermediaries between you and the microfilm know which reel
you need. Another way to identify differences is to find your author or
title in the online catalog of the holding library; many have cataloged
every title in the entire collection.

collection will consist of approximately 200,000 titles printed in Great
Britain and its colonies or printed elsewhere in English from 1701-1800,
selected from approximately 500,000 titles included in the ESTC.
Typically,
entries in the ESTC include reel number and item number. As of this
writing,
the University of Chicago Library holds over 100,000 titles included in
units 1-236 of the collection. Records for over 81,000 titles are included
in the online catalog.
