Faculty Research & Development Grant

The Faculty Research & Development Grant (FR&D) was established by the NKU Research Foundation to support and strengthen faculty research by providing funding for basic and applied research.  A high priority will be given to proposals that have a potential for commercialization of a technology, product, or process. 

Maximum Grant:  $15,000 with a negotiable time period.  A typical award will not exceed 24 months.

Submission Timing & Deadline:  No deadline, applications may be submitted at any time.

Eligibility:  Faculty must be tenured or have tenure-track appointment at time of application.

Funds may be used for:

  • Faculty release time at replacement expense rates, with approval of Chair and Dean
  • Faculty summer pay, with the approval of Chair and Dean
  • Student, technical, or hourly assistance pay
  • Travel Funds (e.g. confer with collaborators or mentors)
  • Supplies, equipment, or software
