The Regents Distinguished Service Award recognizes individual staff employees who have made exemplary contributions to the growth, image, or efficient operations of the University. Three $1,000 awards are available on an annual basis, although all three will not necessarily be made in any given year. One award will be available in each of the following employment categories:
Professional/Research Assistants
Office Clerical
Service Maintenance - Skilled Crafts - Technical/Scientific
All regular non-faculty employees in the above classifications with five or more years of continuous service and satisfactory job performance are eligible for nomination for this award. Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award prior to 1990 when it was replaced with Regents Distinguished Service Award, are eligible to be nominated. Recipients after 1990 who received the monetary award are not eligible for nomination. (These individuals are acknowledged by appearing with an asterisk.) The selection committee is composed of representatives of the four organizational units, representative of Staff Congress, one member of the Board of Regents and the three recipients from the previous year.
Nominations for awards will be evaluated based upon exemplary performance in one or more of the following: service above and beyond the call of duty, initiative and creativity, peer recognition, contributions to the work environment, and personal characteristics such as enthusiasm, loyalty, good attendance, leadership and cooperation, courtesy, and fairness to other employees. University service may include efforts resulting in positive public relations for the University and/or community service with a professional organization that directly and favorably reflects upon and benefits the University.
Only nominations made by University faculty, staff, or students will be accepted. A nominator may not nominate family members or submit more than one nomination per category. Self-nominations will not be considered.
The Nomination Process is as follows:
- Nominations must be submitted by faculty, staff or students of NKU
- Self-nominations will not be considered
- Nominations by family members will not be considered
- Recipients after 1990 who received the monetary award are not eligible for nomination

You are encouraged to nominate a colleague who has demonstrated outstanding service above and beyond expectations of his/her job performance. Excerpts from past nominations are given below:
- Her "can do" attitude has often lifted people's spirits when nothing else could. Her leadership and expertise in providing stellar customer service and communication skills has brought to NKU encreased enrollments, a positive public image and a tireless campaign to draw and attract students to NKU.
- Many people, on and off-campus, in all echelons, depend and rely heavily on him because they know that he will get the job done in a very professional manner. He is the "go to person" to make things happen, resolve issues, and to complete a well-done job. He has been a great ambassador of diversity and multiculturalism for NKU.
- She performs her job extremely well, often going out of the way to solve a problem or assist a "customer". She puts the college, its faculty, staff and students first and does an excellent job of promoting the college's mission and vision. She is one of the rare employees who really "owns the problem" and feels a sense of commitment to solve an identified problem.
Please provide detailed examples that describe and/or demonstrate the outstanding service and/or performance. Refrain from using department-specific acronyms and terms. For example, "...her knowledge of RE..." should read, "...her knowledge of Raiser's Edge, the University Development database..."
