Course
Description: Concepts and Techniques of data organization
and access; basic data structures, file organization and processing;
database modeling and processing; database management systems,
database analysis and design, and data administration.
Prerequisites: IFS 302 and Junior Standing
Objectives: To familiarize students with the syntax of
Structured Query Language (SQL), and Using SQL to access Relational
Database Management Systems (RDBMS),
To
understand the role of RDBMS and front-end tools in Client-Server
Computing,
To understand the role of network
technology in the context of C/S computing,
To learn to Use PowerBuilder as a front-end tool, and
To develop an understanding of Graphical User
Interface Design Guidelines

Programming,” Joe Celko, Wrox Press -1995 Edition or later. “Official PowerBuilder 6.0
Fundamentals,” Craig Levin - ITP - 1998 Edition or later.
