The internship application is due four months prior to the semester you intend to register for the internship course. For internships with federal agencies the application must be submitted six months to a year (depends on agency) in advance of the semester you plan to intern. Many federal, state and local agencies often require an extensive background check, drug testing, and training requirements.

The following documents are required for internship placement.

Internship Application

Agency Request Form

Internship Release Form

Internship Log and Journal

The student intern is required to keep a daily log similar to standard time sheets so that there is a basis for the paper that is required for the course. The daily log must be signed by the agency supervisor biweekly. Daily journal entries detailing the assignments, projects, and goals/objectives for the day are required. The journal provides a reflective forum for understanding the internship process, skills and tools applied and the learned experiences. Additionally, this will be beneficial in writing the internship paper for your portfolio.
