Jayce Farmer
Jayce L. Farmer is an assistant professor in the Master of Public Administration program.He has served in a number of practitioner positions prior to completing his Ph.D. As an analyst with the City of Tallahassee, he acted as the city's capital budget coordinator, emergency management liaison for mitigation and recovery and budget analyst for several city departments. He also served as a budget analyst with the City of Tampa as well as a policy analyst with the State of Florida.
Dr. Farmer's research examines an array of topics on local government institutions and financial decisions. This research includes local government service provision, finance policy and budgeting and regional cooperation among government institutions. He has presented papers at several national and regional academic conferences.
He is currently engaged in research that explores the usage of alternative methods of service provision among local government institutions and submitted the first of a series of manuscripts for publication regarding this work.
Dr. Farmer earned both his Master of Public Administration and Ph.D. from the Reubin O'D. Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University. He is also a graduate of Florida A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in public management with a minor in criminal justice. Under the direction of Richard Feiock, his dissertation examined local governments' usage of special districts in efforts to provide regional services.
Dr. Farmer said he enjoys the diversity in disciplines that the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice brings to NKU:
