Non-Traditional Students
Orientation for non-traditional students is held in conjunction with the transfer orientation. It is a four hour program educating you on the many services that Northern Kentucky University has to offer. In addition to learning more about NKU, the orientation answers questions you may have about college and ultimately, prepares you for what lies ahead.
New non-traditional students are required to attend the Northern Exposure, New Student Orientation program.
By definition, a non-traditional student is one or more of the following:
- 21 years of age or older
- Married, divorced or widowed
- Has parental responsibilities
- Served at least 6 months in the military
- Listed as a veteran
- Part-time student taking less than 12 credit hours
Non-traditional students will receive their orientation registration form in the mail beginning in mid-May, 2012.
Advising and course registration takes place directly within the student’s major department. Advising and course registration is not included as part of the transfer student orientation program. If you have not yet registered for classes, please remember to contact your academic department directly based on where your major is housed. Click here to find the contact for your academic department.To register for the non-traditional orientation, please fill out the registration form you will received with your Northern Exposure information and then mail it back to the Office of New Student Orientation and Parent Programs. In addition, if you plan on bringing a guest, please fill out the guest portion of the student reservation form.
