Elementary Session: BEP 204
Integrated Science & Mathematics Workshop
Reeda
Hart will conduct this workshop, which will include meeting core content
guidelines by providing hands-on, motivating, purposeful activities for
all elementary students. Emphasis will be on using process skills, promoting
inquiry in the classroom, integrating math skills into science topics.Those
attending the workshop will participate in three hands-on activities (focusing
on earth sciences, life sciences, and physical sciences) and receive free
science and math materials.
Reeda Hart is a lower primary teacher at Grant’s
Lick Elementary. She is a veteran teacher of 25 years.Providing
workshops in the areas of science, math, technology, and environmental
studies on the state and national level has been a hobby as she continues
to teach in the regular classroom.

Using Electronic Examples from NCTM
Participants
will receive a copy of the NCTM Principles and Standards with CD-ROM. Presenters
are middle-grades teachers Heather Prieshoff and Jennifer Taylor from Boone
County School District.
Secondary Session: BEP 152
Illustrating Math
Math and Art join together with the knowledge
of functions to produce artistic masterpieces.New
ideas that will get the students to use both the right and left sides of
their brain. Sr. Anita Marie will be the presenter from Bishop Brossart
High School.

Visualizing Volume
3-D cross-sectional models allow students to see and experience
hands-on the relationship between algebra, geometry, and even…calculus.

Various Mathematics Books that will be great supplements to use
in the classroom will be given away.
