Ya-Liang Chang, DMA, is an adjunct piano professor at Northern Kentucky University music department.  She received her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Master of Music in piano performance from the Boston Conservatory.  She made her debut with Taipei chamber orchestra at the age of fifteen, playing Mozart piano concerto K. 537.  Her teachers include Michael Lewin, Sergei Polusmiak, Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff, James Tocco, and Janice Weber. 

Dr. Chang is a prizewinner/participatant for several awards that include IBLA International Piano Competition in Italy, Taipei International Piano Competition, Taiwan Chi-May Artist Award, Schumann’s Honor Piano Competition in Boston, and Bayreuth Summer Festival in Germany. She also received several teaching awards that include recognition as a founding teacher for the Royal American Conservatory Examination (National Music Certificate Program), and faculty special recognition from NKU. 

As a concert solo/collaborative pianist, Dr. Chang recent concert highlights include appearances in Artist Concerts with IBLA Foundation, International Bartok-Prokofiev-Kabalevsky Competition and Festival in Italy, and the Ohio Music Teacher Association/ South West District Fall Conference.  She is an active member of the Ohio Music Teacher Association, and is frequently invited to give lectures and recitals for the OMTA/ SW district.  She is a frequent judicator for Ohio State and district competitions that include OMTA Buckeye piano competition, OMTA/Graves collegiate piano competition, and OMTA Audition Festival.
