Orchestra Program
In 2000, the Department of Music at Northern Kentucky University received a substantial financial gift from Patricia A. Corbett, the Corbett Foundation and the Amernet Society to develop a program in strings, orchestra and chamber music. These funds endow both the Patricia A. Corbett String Program and the Corbett String Quartet in Residence. The Corbett String Program offers professional performance and instruction for string players through orchestra, chamber music and private lessons.
Chamber Orchestra
The NKU Chamber Orchestra gives concerts both on campus and throughout the area. The orchestra is open to all NKU students by audition. The orchestra's repertoire ranges from Baroque music to tango and includes the full spectrum of chamber orchestra literature. In its first year, the NKU Chamber Orchestra was invited to play at the 2005 Kentucky Music Educators Conference.
Philharmonic Orchestra
The NKU Philharmonic Orchestra presents several concerts each season in Greaves Hall on the NKU campus. The orchestra, founded in the fall of 2003, is open to NKU students and local musicians by audition. Recent performances have included an evening of operatic masterworks in collaboration with members of the NKU voice faculty.
