Midweek

Midweek is an e-mailed newsletter that goes out to the nkuall listserv of Northern Kentucky University. Subscribers to this listserv include Northern Kentucky University faculty, staff, community members, and members of the media, but not all faculty and staff are part of this listserv because nkuall is an "opt in" listserv: people must choose to subscribe to it. In addition to the Midweek e-mail account, Mr. Geoffrey Mearns and all of NKU's vice presidents send e-mail to the nkuall listserv.

Midweek is organized with categories and subcategories. Main categories are "Critical announcements," "Other announcements" and "Events." Subcategories, such as "Health / wellness / fitness / sports," are in alphabetical order within each category. All submissions must be directly related to NKU in some fashion. Advertisements for entities not affiliated with NKU or for events not on NKU's campus or not sponsored by NKU will not be considered. A complete list of guidelines for Midweek submissions is available via the "Submission guidelines" link on the menu.

Submit your items to Midweek by using the "Submit a Midweek item" link on the menu. If you are unable to use the automated category list on that page, you may submit an e-mail directly to the Midweek account, which must include "Category: " and a specific category from the "Submit a Midweek item" page.

Administrative announcements are critical items that affect the entire university. They must come from the president or a vice president and should be submitted directly to midweek@nku.edu with the subject "Category: Administrative announcement". Administrative announcements are not limited on the number of words, but they should still be as short as possible – put who, what, where, when, and why in the first paragraph and include more details in subsequent paragraphs.

Midweek publication dates

Midweek is published twice a week in regular semesters and once a week during the summer. Midweek may be issued once a week or not at all for some holidays. For example, if a holiday falls on a Wednesday or a Friday (one of Midweek's regular publication dates), then there will only be one Midweek during that week. There will be a notice posted in the Midweek e-mail if the regular publication schedule will be altered because of a holiday. Midweek is not published during the winter break.
