The Major

The B.S. in Business Administration is an opportunity for students to design their own degree program with 21 hours of business upper-division electives.

Curriculum

Objectives: to provide an interdisciplinary B.S. degree in Business to facilitate completion of degrees by transfer students and to anticipate alternative delivery of degree programs.

Admission:     2.5 overall GPA and completion of the following courses:

 
ENG 101 College writing
ENG 291 Advanced Writing
MAT 102 Business Mathematics or (ACT exemption)
MAT 111 Linear mathematics
MAT 212 Statistics for Business Applications I
MAT 112 Calculus for Business or (MAT 213 Statistics II)
SPE 101 Principles of Speech Communication
ACC 200 Financial Accounting
ACC 201 Managerial Accounting
BUS 230 Legal Environment
ECO 200 Microeconomics
ECO 201 Macroeconomics
IFS 105 Introduction to Business Computing or competency equivalent

And one of the following:
 
FIN 205 Personal Finance
MGT 205 Introduction to Business and Management
***Or any other business elective with the approval of the academic advisor***
Completion of the Business Administration minor including courses above and:
FIN 305 Principles of Finance
MGT 305 Operations Management
MKT 305 Principles of Marketing

 1.  Do I have to certify?

       There is a 2.5 overall NKU GPA requirement and the completion of the following courses:

    2.   What other courses are required?
You have to complete the Business minor and the other courses shared by all the business majors.

     3.   What else is required for the major in Business Administration?
You have to complete 21 hours in upper-division (300 and 400 level) course in the College of Business.
     4.  How do I choose those seven courses? 
You have to meet all course pre-requisites, but otherwise the combination of the courses is your decision.  You can choose from all the disciplines in the college: accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, management and marketing.  If you wish, you may declare an area of concentration with four course in one discipline.
     5.  I'm a transfer student.  What transferred courses will count towards a major in Business Administration?
Upper-division business courses which transfer to NKU may count towards the Business Administration major even if NKU does not offer the course.  Discuss transfer courses with your advisor.
     6.  How do I declare a pre-major in Business Administration?
To declare a pre-major you will need to make an appointment with the College of Business Advising Center:  BEP 463, (859) 572-6134.
