Dr. Dalakas
joined the College of Business in Fall 2004 after five years at Berry College in
Georgia. He has also taught a course at the Monterey Institute of International
Studies and has served as a marketing consultant for the small Pacific nation of
Palau. He received his undergraduate degree from Hanover College, his Master’s
from Indiana University, and his doctorate in marketing from the University of
Oregon. His teaching interests are in the areas of consumer behavior and sports
marketing. His research has addressed issues pertaining to consumer behavior,
cross-cultural marketing, sponsorship, and sports marketing. It has been
published in journals like the Journal of
Business Research, the Journal of
Consumer Psychology, the Journal
of Consumer Marketing, Sport
Marketing Quarterly,
International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship, and the
Journal of Euro-Marketing. He has

Dr. Ford joined NKU’s
Management & Marketing faculty in Fall 2001. Previously, he was a visiting
assistant professor of operations management and entrepreneurship at the
University of Cincinnati. Ford earned his PhD in operations management from the
University of Cincinnati, and a BS in applied science from Miami University.
Prior to his academic career, Ford secured twelve years of operations and
corporate management experience at Consolidated Papers, Inc, a manufacturer of
enamel coated printing papers since acquired by Stora Enso Oyj. Ford’s academic
honors include awards for both outstanding teaching and scholarship, including
receipt of The Sandy Easton Outstanding Teacher Award, an honor bestowed
by NKU College of Business Students, in both 2003 and 2004. Dr. Ford has taught
a variety of undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in operations management,
business administration, entrepreneurship, and international business. His
research interests include strategic operations, quality management,
entrepreneurship, and the management and control of change. Dr. Ford’s peer
reviewed publications include entries in International Journal of Operations
& Production Management, Quality Management Journal, Business
Horizons, Frontiers of Entrepreneurship, Journal of Engineering &
Technology Management, Center for Quality of Management Journal,

Professor Gamble
joined the
College of Business faculty
this fall as the inaugural director of the
Sports
Business Program he helped found.
Professor Gamble
comes to
NKU after spending nearly two
decades working in various aspects of Sports Business in Greater Cincinnati. Most
recently, Gamble served as Vice President of
Don
Schumacher & Associates, Inc., a Cincinnati-based sports marketing,
management, communications and consulting firm.
Professor Gamble
also has extensive experience in both broadcast and print media.
He continues to co-host a morning drive-time radio show on
WCKY-AM
(1360), and was the former Sports Editor of
The
Kentucky Post, Northern Kentucky’s largest circulation daily.
A Cincinnati native,
Professor
Gamble received his Master of Education in Sports Administration from
Xavier
University in 1991, where he later served as an Adjunct Instructor at the
graduate level for five years.
Gamble’s
teachings included Sports Marketing, Sports Fundraising, Event Management and
Promotion, and Public Relations and Communication in Sport.
He also was responsible for coordination and direction of the student
Internship program.

Richard Gilson

Dr. Rich Gilson joined the
Department of Management and
Marketing in Fall 2001.
He
received his Ph.D. from the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002,
specializing in Organizational Behavior.
He has a Master of Social Science degree in Human Resource Management
from
Utah State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political
Science from
Weber State University.
Rich
is currently teaching the Behavior in Organizations and Human
Resource Administration courses.
Rich’s work experience includes work as a training
facilitator, as a senior R&D chemical technician, and as an account manager. He
has worked for several large organizations, notably Thiokol Corp. and Morton
International. Prior to that, Rich served as an Army field artillery officer
and attained the rank of Captain before transferring into the Inactive Reserve.
Rich has conducted and presented research in several areas
including innovation in work teams, individual creativity, psychological
engagement at work, and computer learning. He is also interested in workplace
democracy, procedural justice, intrinsic motivation, and employee rights. His
published research appears in the Journal of Occupational and Organizational
Psychology and the Journal of Educational Computing Research.

Professor Hertz is a 1983 graduate of the

of Kentucky and a 1989 Graduate of the

Northern Kentucky University (NKU). He
is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Ohio. Professor
Hertz began teaching an entrepreneurship course entitled New Venture
Creation as a part-time faculty member in January 2000.He
is now a full-time Lecturer of Entrepreneurship at the
Fifth Third Bank
Entrepreneurship Institute, housed within NKU’s
College of
Business.
Professor Hertz teaches
Fundamentals of Management and Marketing, Legal Environment, New Venture

Professor Kent
has been an instructor of management at
NKU
since August, 1986. He holds undergraduate degrees in Management
and Political Science and received his M.B.A. degree in Management from

University of Cincinnati.
Primarily an educator who also consults, he teaches management courses
(e.g., the skills-based "Human Resources Administration") and general business
courses (e.g., the "External Context for Business"). He provides
academic advising and is also faculty advisor to the Business Management
Alliance student organization. His teaching philosophy reflects his
belief that learning is natural, enjoyable, and can lead to both personal
fulfillment and societal enrichment.

Dr. Levin's
recent research has focused on the impact of sports sponsorship on consumers'

Dr. Miller received his bachelor’s degree
from the
University of Kansas in 1970. After
working in both the private and public sectors for a few years, he returned to
university studies initially at the
University of Missouri which granted him an
M.B.A. in 1975 and finally at the
University of New
Mexico where he earned an M.A. and then a Ph.D. in 1984. In 1988, he was
awarded a Fulbright Research Scholarship to Central America, which provided an
immersion into business strategies within emerging economies. While there, he
examined the business strategies of both international and domestic firms in
five essential industries for that region. Though most of his work has been in
Latin America,
Dr. Miller has also engaged
in research about Asian business issues, which were published in the Journal
of Asian Business and Japanese Distribution Strategy. A business
strategy case about the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in emerging Central
Asia has recently been released by the European Case Clearing House. In
November 2002, Dr. Miller coordinated a Maquiladora Research Conference at the
University of Texas at El
Paso where a group of nine Mexican and United States shared their research
findings about NAFTA and the Maquiladora Program. As a result of the
conference, he is editing a book to be published by Texas Western
Press.

Dr. Mueller
joined the NKU Management and Marketing Faculty in fall 2004. He has previously
served on the faculty at Texas Christian University and Florida International
University where he
taught a variety of undergraduate and MBA courses in entrepreneurship, strategic
management, and international business. Dr. Mueller
received his Ph.D. in International Management Studies at University of Texas at
Dallas. He also holds an MBA from University of Texas at Arlington, a Masters in
Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a BS in Electrical
Engineering from Purdue University. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Mueller
accumulated 15 years of general management and entrepreneurship experience in
the computer industry. His research on entrepreneurship is international in
scope and has been published in several of the leading management and
entrepreneurial journals including Academy of Management Journal,
Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Venturing,
and Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship.

Dr, Recker
currently serves an Assistant Professor of Labor Relations at Northern Kentucky
University. He received his Doctorate in Education from the University of
Cincinnati and his MBA from Xavier University. Dr. Recker began his teaching
career in August of 1979 and has taught a variety of courses at the graduate and
the under-graduate level including human resource management, intro to labor
relations and supervisory management.
He has authored
several articles addressing employee motivation.
In addition to
teaching, Dr. Recker has consulted for many organizations and is highly involved
in the business community. He is an active member of the Northern Kentucky
Chamber of Commerce and serves on many committees. Prior to his academic
career, Dr. Recker worked as a first-line supervisor and as a Production and
Inventory Control Manager. He is married to his wife Teresa and they have three
children.

Marketing. His teaching specialties include organizational development
and organization behavior; his research focuses on the impact of self-referent
attitudes on work behavior. Dr.

70 public and private sector organizations. He is a fellow of the
