Summer 2011

Mathematical Cryptology

  • Six or more talented undergraduate students will be chosen to engage in the study of Mathematical Cryptology.  Participants will be mentored by Dr. Chris Christensen from Northern Kentucky University, Dr. Jintai Ding of the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Dieter Schmidt from the University of Cincinnati (emeritus professor), a graduate student from the University of Cincinnati, and a participant from the 2010 REU.  Participants will be involved in attacking unsolved problems in mathematical cryptology.

  • Participants will be provided with housing and meals on the Northern Kentucky University campus, which is located in Greater Cincinnati.  The program will provide a stipend and travel support to and from the NKU campus.  Partial support to participate in a conference to present results is possible.
