Professional Interest:
My roots lie in the fields of abstract algebra and specifically lattice theory, although I have also always enjoyed analysis. In recent years at NKU I have taught a wide variety of courses spanning the disciplines of mathematics and computer science. For example, one of my recent projects involved offering an intensive summer workshop for high school teachers teaching AP computer science. Very recently I have become aware of and interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL), which should enable me to accomplish two goals: First to allow me to become more innovative in teaching the large variety of mathematics courses for non-majors that we offer at Northern, and second, to aid me in developing new methods of teaching that will attract both more students and a more diverse group of students to mathematics as a major or minor. I have also worked for many years with a large number of students engaged in co-operative education.
