Mathematics and Statistics

 

Welcome!

A major in mathematics or statistics will allow you to:

  • Develop the mental skills to create and present a logical argument.
  • Creatively solve systemic problems.
  • Study the beauty of nature from the formal perspective of patterns and change.
  • Abstract the essence of problems from a complex background.

NKU graduates in mathematics and statistics have gone on to become:

  • High school and college mathematics teachers
  • Mathematicians, scientists and engineers
    actuaries
  • Statisticians
  • Specialists in operations research and management science
  • Physicians
  • Attorneys
  • CEOs

A second major in another discipline can greatly enrich a degree in mathematics. The American Mathematical Society provides further information on careers in mathematics.

Lab Hours

Mathematics and Statistics students have access to the campus public computer labs.

Calculus Lab Hours

Students attending MAT119, MAT 128/227/228 (Calc A/B/C), MAT 129/229 (Calc 1 & 2) may choose to visit the Calculus Lab in ST343.

Fall 2010 Lab hours will be posted at the start of the semester
