LinMath, written in Java, is the piece
of software you have probably already used online. This software is
fully functional online, and requires no additional downloads. However,
as some users (such as those who pay for their internet connection on an
hourly rate) may prefer to work offline, there are two download options
available.
LinMath
Offline
The
same LinMath software used online is available in a form that is fully
operational with no connection to the Internet. However, in order for
LinMath to work offline the Java 2 Platform must be downloaded
and installed. Because of this additional step, this option is not
recommended for novice computer users.
-
Download
the Java 2 Platform from Sun Microsystems- Click
here, (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/) choose your operating
system, and download the appropriate file. NOTE: this download is
rather large (~5MB).
-
Run the
file you downloaded and install the Java 2 Platform. To do so, go to
the directory where you downloaded the file (using Windows Explorer,
or a similar program) and double click the file you downloaded. Then
follow the instructions as they appear onscreen
-
Download
LinMath Offline. This file is rather small, click
here (http://www.nku.edu/~mat111/LinMath.jar) to download it.
-
After
installation, double click on LinMath.jar to run.
Visual
Basic Software
For
those users who would like a simpler option, an older piece of software
written in Visual Basic is available. It should be noted that this is
not the same software as LinMath, and does not have the same number of
features.
-
Download
the visual basic software by clicking here
(http://www.nku.edu/~mat111/VBLinMat.exe).
-
Double
click on .exe to install the software, after going to the
appropriate directory with Windows Explorer or a similar program.
-
To
run this software, double click LinMathW.exe
