Why is coming out so tough?

With better understandings, maybe it won't be...

The Coming Out Project

What is The Coming Out Project?

The Coming Out Project seeks to be the biggest project of its kind. By collecting the coming out stories of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and otherwise queer individuals, it is hoped that better understandings of the coming out process can occur. This, in turn, will lead to comfortable coming out situations for both those coming out and those to whom they are coming out. Ultimately, the project seeks to make the difficulty of coming out a thing of the past !

Bring The Coming Out Project to your campus!

Looking for a dynamic, motivating, and energetic speaker for your campus? Dr. Jimmie Manning is currently accepting invitations to travel to campuses across the country and talk about coming out. Possibilities include

Best of all, Dr. Manning does NOT offer his services for profit - he simply asks to be paid the cost of travel, lodging, and other trip expenses (all of which can be billed as his speaking honorarium for campuses where travel and lodging expenses are not paid by student governments or sponsorship organizations). The only thing he requests for his services is for some of the members of the sponsoring organizations to be willing to share their coming out stories for his research.

Interested in booking an engagement? E-mail Dr. Manning now at manningj1@nku.edu. Be sure to include the name of your organization, the name of your university, target dates for the visit, and what kinds of presentations you would like to see. Be sure to include a telephone number where you can be contacted. Dr. Manning will try to honor as many requests as possible, but a limited number of engagements are available.
