If you're getting a
dvips: Secure mode is 1 so execute ...error, then you need to edit the appropriate config.ps file in your texmf distribution (if you can!):
For me, it's
/usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/config.ps
and comment out the line
z1
Make it
% z1
and you should be good to go.
