Stuart Ray Givens

Stuart Givens taught Canadian and European History at Bowling Green State University.

He was my professor in college for an American history class, but, more importantly, he was a friend who took me seriously, and guided me intellectually.

  To a friend and a father from the old neighborhood

  Swirling spirit shades,
  two stout pillars,
  old soldiers;
  the college built on such backs
  assuredly strong,
  assuredly grateful.
