Did you know that we're running out of helium?
We're learning to feed ourselves, by working on a "CSA" (Community-supported_agriculture). Ours is Greensleeves Farm, in Alexandria, KY.
"You will get produce for 20+ weeks beginning in mid-May, and a full share would be enough for 2-3 adults or more. If you can help on the farm, for a total of 30 hours during the entire season, your cost will be $400....
"Work may involve helping transplant berries or vegetable starts, weeding, watering, and certainly harvesting on the Tuesdays prior to the pickup, which is set for 7-8 p.m. (that way people can come out after work to help harvest from 5-7, getting their hours in; this is what the 2007 membership suggested) Most 2007 members did this--they enjoyed the chance to make friends, and have a direct contact with their own food!

"If a full share sounds like too much for your family, try to find a neighbor/friend to share with. Doing the pickup on alternate weeks seems to work the best for folks, although several people come from the Ft. Thomas area. My farm is just 12 miles south of NKU, close to the Campbell County High School."

My friend Kofi: the solution to the food crisis is to first solve the population crisis -- anything else is a band-aid. A green revolution will help, but humans have continually expanded to the edge of their ability to produce food: as we produce more food, the population expands. If that continues, then a disaster is inevitable because of the vagaries of nature.
