Dr. William M. Lindsay is Professor Emeritus of Management at Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, Kentucky. He taught numerous course in quality, operations, business policy, and general management from 1972-2001. He also served as acting department chair of Management and Marketing (2 years) and Director of the MBA program (4 years).
In 2001-2002, he was a Visiting Professor of Management at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, where he taught courses in quality management and operations management.
He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech, a M.S. in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Georgia State University.
Dr. Lindsay has been an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for four years, from 1999-2002, and a judge for the Kentucky Quality Award in 2000 - 2002.
He previously held positions in industrial engineering and planning at E.I. Dupont, Southern Airways, and the Department of Defense.
He is the co-author (with James R. Evans) of The Management and Control of Quality, 5th ed., published by South-Western College Publishing Co., (2002) and Administracion y Control de Calidad, Cuarta edicion, Mexico City: International Thomson Editores, S.A. de C.V. (2000). He is also the co-author of Total Quality and Organization Development (with Joseph A. Petrick), published by CRC/St. Lucie Press (1997).
He has published numerous articles, and performed consulting assignments in industry and government relating to quality, continuous improvement, and employee involvement over the past 30 years. He is a Senior Member and past President of the Cincinnati, Ohio, Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. He is a past president and past charter member of the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Association for Quality and Participation. He is also a member of the Decision Sciences Institute, The American Society for Quality, and other professional associations.
He enjoys traveling, jogging, writing, and doing volunteer work in his church. He has two adult sons and lives with his wife, Rebecca, in Crestview Hills, KY.
