Exam date: 10 weeks before the end of your school year, 2010 (March 1-April 10).

The content of this web page pertains only to the AATSP--Kentucky Chapter.  Students living in other states should ask their teachers to contact the coordinators for their respective chapters, listed at the National Spanish Exam website (under National links and deadlines, below right).  The National Spanish Exam is a contest for high school & middle school students only.  University students are not eligible to compete.

Please include NSE in the subject line of your e-mails to me.  My computer is set up to flag these.

Kentucky fee per exam lowered to $0.25 for 2010. The national office did not want us to set the fee at zero, since they were afraid it would cause confusion among the teachers who register independently of a chapter. They suggested 25 cents instead, so we're going with that. Just divide your total number of students by 4. The national fee is still $3.00 per exam, so the grand total is $3.25 per exam. Please remember that once you register a student, you must pay for that student. Quia creates the access codes and charges the NSE office as soon as a student name is signed up. You may add students, but you may not delete them. New teachers: please go to the national NSE website (below, right) now and click on the link to get on their e-mail list. That way you won't miss a thing. All teachers please note that late registration will only go through February 25, 2010. That's three fewer days than last year.

Registration began on November 1. When you go to the national site, you'll need to provide your e-mail address, name, AATSP number, school information, levels of the exam you plan to give, and the names and grades (9th, 10th...) of the students taking the exam at each level. New teachers who aren't yet members of AATSP can click the option saying "I would like to become a member of AATSP" and be directed to the AATSP site to pay their dues. They will then have to call the AATSP office to get their membership number, so they can register their students.

You will find anything I send out to the chapter posted on this page, but I will be happy to answer any questions or find out the information if I don't know.

Deadlines for the 2010 exam

November 1 2009 through January 31, 2010 Regular registration takes place during this period.
