Latino Student Mentor Program
Purpose: The purpose of the Latino
Student Mentor Program is to promote and enhance the retention and
academic success of Freshmen and transferring Latino students.
Criteria and
Guidelines: The Office of Latino Student Affairs will
oversee this program with the assistance of faculty, staff, upperclass students and community members. Coordination will be made
by the Office of Latino Affairs to identify those
students who qualify for this program.
Selection of
Committee and Members: Two members of the Latino Student
Affairs Advisory Council will be asked to serve on this committee.
It is recommended that a faculty and a community member serve on
this committee. Mentors will be selected
by the Mentor Program Committee and assigned a mentee. The
mentors will be required to meet with their mentees at least 3 to 5
times a semester.
Eligibility: All entering
Latino students are encouraged to take advantage of this
program. Students participating in this program will get
insight from other students, faculty and staff, become better
learners and improve their retention
rate.
