Downloading the Entire Website

This page explains how to download a copy of the entire Access to Insight website in bulk and install it onto your hard disk. If you're not sure how to download and uncompress "zip" files, please see "Downloading Files from Access to Insight".

The bulk download file is automatically kept up-to-date with the rest of the website, so whenever you download it you'll know you have the very latest version. It's a large file (about 8 Mb), so only those of you with reasonably fast Internet connections will find it practical to download.

Step 1.

Check to be sure you have at least 35Mb of free space available on your hard drive (about 8Mb for the file you download and at least 25Mb for the uncompressed files). Create a new folder on your hard drive. Name it website (or some other convenient name of your own choosing).

Important: If you have previously installed the website onto your hard disk, be sure to delete your old version of the website before installing the new one. Otherwise, you may encounter broken links and other inconsistencies.

Step 2.

Download the file bulk.zip (approx. 8 Mb).

Step 3.

Move "bulk.zip" into your website folder.

Step 4.

Unzip "bulk.zip". (If you don't know how to do this, see "Downloading Files from Access to Insight".) You do not have to worry about creating subfolders in your website folder; the un-zipping program takes care of all that.

Step 5.

Using your web browser, open the file named "index.html" in your website folder. You may now navigate freely through your own personal copy of the website.
