Teachers learn when conducting student interviews in mathematics, both about how students think and about how to best provide effective, targeted learning experiences to advance student understanding and skill. Read and discuss the important points in this article which provides justification and considerations for interviewing students and practical suggestions for assessment tasks (approximately second grade content) that shed light on in-depth student learning.
