trying to make a clip using Moviemaker from a flipvideo

I am trying to import video made with the flip camera in order to do a clip. I am using Windows Moviemaker and for some reason the video will not download into the Moviemaker program. I recorded my lessons on the Flipvideo, then downloaded onto an external drive. Does anyone know what I need to do or what I am doing wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
