Students disappearing from your Blackboard courses PDF Print E-mail

When students drop or are dropped from a course in MyNKU they become disabled in that course in Blackboard. What this means is their work and grades are still there but the students will not see the course in their list of courses and you will not see them in your course or grade center. Once the student is re-enrolled in the class in MyNKU then the next time the feed to Blackboard runs they will reappear in the Blackboard course.

To use the Wimba Voice tools and Wimba Classroom in your Blackboard courses you need to make the tools available in each course you want to use it in. Here are the step by step instructions:

The directions to activate the Wimba tool inside your Blackboard course are:

Control Panel > Manage Tools (under Course Options) > Building Block tool availability >Select/check the box for Wimba Classroom List, Wimba Podcaster Extension,  Wimba Voice Announcements Extension,  Wimba Voice Boards Extension,  Wimba Voice Emails Extension

Then click submit, then OK and it will take you back to Manage Tools

Now click Content Type Availability Select/check the box for Voice Authoring, Voice Email, Voice Board, Voice Presentation, Wimba Podcaster, and Wimba Classroom

Then click submit, then OK and it will take you back to Manage Tools

Now you can place/use the Wimba tools & Classroom in any content area in Blackboard by selecting them from the Learning Unit drop down and clicking go.

Letter Grades PDF Print E-mail

The Grade Center allows you to create grading schemas so you can apply letter grades to point based assignments or columns. The default grading schema includes A+ and D- so it does not conform to NKU’s new letter grading scale. You can add a new grading schema and set the percentages as you wish.

We can modify or add a new grading schema from our Grade Center in Blackboard. Drop down the manage box and select grading schemas. At this point you can choose to modify an existing one or add a grading schema. Both of these options will allow you to name the schema. This name is what you will choose in the primary display drop down when modifying a grade center column if you wish to display a letter grade. Here is a link to a video tutorial of this process:
