UNDOING SHAKESPEARE?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HISTORY
The famous writer, Shakespeare
as we know him, was born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire,
England.
He married at 18 to
26 year old Anne Hathaway and had a daughter Susannah 6 months later, then
twins Judith and Hamnet 2 years later.
In the 1580's, he went
to London to be an actor, leaving his family.
In 1593, the theatres
were closed because of the plague, then he wrote the popular narrative
poem "Venus and Adonis."
In 1599, he and 4 other
shareholders built the Globe Playhouse.
Around 1607, he retired
to a house he had built in Stratford called "New Place," the second largest
in the vicinity.
Shakespeare was then
recorded to have died on April 23, 1616.
PROBLEM
There is a controversy
as to whether the William Shaksper of Stratford was really the true author
of the great works written.
Through history, certain
people have doubted that a man such as poor Shaksper could have written
such works.
These people say that
it is highly unlikely that this man could have been familiar with the wide
body of knowledge that was displayed.
They say he couldn't
have known about law, music, foreign languages, the classics, and aristocratic
manners and sports of that time.
They say that there
isn't any documentation that this man had access to information such as
the previous.
They say that there
is evidence that the authorship of these plays was not generally known.
